A busy two months

Hi everyone, lots of new (and old) pieces on the horizon. Amy Galbraith and I will be performing my Five Miniatures for oboe and bassoon again on her recital at Chatham University on February 22. And the months of March and April feature three premieres. Read more

Stay tuned for upcoming performances. I just finished an orchestra piece, and will be finishing a sax quartet soon, both of which I hope to have performed within the next year.

End of the Summer News

Hi everyone! It's been a slow summer, but a lot is on the plate for the coming year. More on that later. But at the end of this month, Alia Musica will begin the season with a chamber music concert. Amy Galbraith and I will be performing my duo for oboe and bassoon, Five Miniatures. Check it out!

New Recordings!

The recording of the performance of Seven Reeds for Seven Players is now up, as well as the new recording of Lethe, River of Oblivion from the Alia Musica concert in March. And if you haven't yet checked it out, the recording of Aqua Regia is up too!

Summer Begins

The first year of my Ph.D. degree program is finally over, which ended in a fury of concerts and recitals. Now I have the time to work on all the pieces I want to, though I'm sure I'll be crazy busy again before I know it. Read more

Reed Frenzy!

On Friday, May 2 at 5:30pm my group, The Möbius Saxophone Quartet with special guests The Ebonita Clarinet Quartet will give a recital in Kresge Hall on Carnegie Mellon's campus. The recital will feature two pieces by Nathan Hall and one by me, among others! Read more

Orchestration

I just found a great resource for orchestration: The Vienna Symphonic Library. It has info on instrument histories, timbre, range, playing techniques, samples, and (what I found most useful) instrument combination guidelines. Enjoy!
